How to measure

The child should stand, not sit, on a sheet of paper. Mark the heel and the longest toe and add 1–1.5 cm to grow into.

A child's shoe should be 1.2–1.7 cm longer than the foot: 0.5 cm to grow into and about 1 cm to move. So size 18 fits a 10.4–11 cm foot, with an inside length of about 12.2–12.7 cm.

Up to age 3 feet grow about half a size every 2–3 months, later every 4–6. Measure before every purchase.

How to check in the shop

Take the insole out and stand the child's foot on it: an adult finger (~1.2 cm) should fit behind the heel. Children curl their toes – check standing, not sitting.
