How it works
More and more castings happen remotely. A client abroad cannot meet every model, so they ask for a 30–60 second clip: the model introduces themselves, turns around, shows a profile, walks a few steps, sometimes smiles or answers a question.
The video shows what pictures cannot: how a person moves and speaks, how their voice sounds and what energy they have. For commercial and advertising work it can matter more than the portfolio.
A phone is enough technically, but you need good light, a quiet background and the horizontal or vertical format that was asked for.
In practice
A client abroad asks for an intro video within a day. The model films herself on a phone by a window against a light background: she says her name, height, where she is from and which agency represents her, turns around, shows a profile and walks a few steps. The clip lasts 40 seconds and goes to the agency that evening.
What to watch for
- Light from the front, a plain light background.
- Fitted, simple clothes, as for digitals.
- Speak calmly, in English if the client is abroad.
