Modeling work in Bordeaux
Sindy Bop is based in central Bordeaux, on rue des Gants, and has been running since 1987. It represents women, men, children and seniors, as well as actors, and puts its models forward to clients across France. It is a member of FFAM.
Apparence Agency was founded in 2012, belongs to SYNAM and says it works in three cities: Bordeaux, Lyon and Paris. Its website mentions new faces, women, men, actors, children and international work.
With two agencies the market is small, so it makes sense to approach both and ask which clients they would put you forward to, local or Parisian. What French law requires of an agency and the minimum rates are covered on the France page.
Paris is two hours by train
The main fashion market is Paris. Since 2017 the LGV Sud Europe Atlantique high-speed line has cut the trip to 2 hours 2 minutes, with about 29 trains a day. You can get to a go-see or casting and back the same day. Fashion week dates are in the fashion calendar.
Tip. If Apparence takes you on, ask which office will represent you. If it is Paris, more of your castings will be there, so plan your travel budget for it.
How to start in Bordeaux
If the agency invites you in, wear simple fitted clothes and little make-up; women should bring heels in their bag. They will measure you, take digitals and ask about your school or job so they know when you can travel for bookings. If you are under 18, bring a parent, since they will be the ones signing the contract.
- Take digitals in daylight: face, profile and full length.
- Apply through the agencies' websites; you can approach both at once.
- Get the contract in writing and pay nothing upfront.
- If you are from abroad and have a mother agency, go through it.
