In short
- Our catalogue lists 13 agencies in Athens out of 24 in Greece, and another 5 work in neighbouring municipalities. In the centre they cluster below the Acropolis, in Kolonaki and by Syntagma Square.
- The catalogue lists every agency that represents models, and we do not vouch for them. Profiles show fees too: Matharikou Models takes a 30% commission and a non-refundable €90 fee, and Happy People Models sells workshops at €300 and €500 plus VAT.
- The 38th Athens Fashion Week runs from 30 October to 4 November 2026 in Egaleo; the organiser announces open castings on its social media accounts.
- A 90-minute ticket costs €1.20, a 24-hour ticket €4.10, a 30-day pass €27 and the metro ticket to the airport €9.
This page covers only what is specific to Athens. Contracts, commission, tax, rules for minors and papers are covered in the guide Modeling agencies in Greece.
Where Athens' agencies are
Greece has neither a licence for model agencies nor an association of them, so the catalogue lists every agency that represents models. That includes agencies that charge applicants for a presentation file, sell workshops, run a school, and agencies on whose websites we found no company details. We do not vouch for them or recommend them: each agency's profile shows what we found, good and bad. There you will see fees charged to applicants with their prices, payment terms, schools and courses, company details, press reports and history.
We have an office address for 11 of the 13 Athens agencies. Going by the addresses they give themselves, they are spread as follows:
| Part of the city | Agencies | Nearest metro stations |
|---|---|---|
| Makrygianni, below the Acropolis | 2: Ace Models, Matharikou Models | M2 Akropoli |
| Kolonaki | 2: Agencia Model Management, Happy People Models | M3 Evangelismos |
| Plaka, by Syntagma Square | 2: Cristi Models, Fashion Cult | M2, M3 Syntagma |
| Ampelokipoi | 1: Avant Models | M3 Ambelokipi |
| Ilisia | 1: Future Models | M3 Megaro Moussikis |
| Historic centre, by the Central Market | 1: D Model Agency | M1, M2 Omonia; M1, M3 Monastiraki |
| Kerameikos | 1: X-Ray Models | M3 Kerameikos; M2 Metaxourgeio |
| Kypseli | 1: Base Models | no metro nearby; M1 Victoria is about 1.3 km away |
Two agencies, Attitude Models and The Legion MGT, are not in the table because the catalogue has no office address for them. Closest to the metro is Ace Models: its office on Makrigianni Street is right by Akropoli station, and the Athens Fashion Week office is in the same quarter, at the corner of Dionysiou Areopagitou and Syngrou Avenue. Cristi Models and Fashion Cult are a few minutes' walk apart in the lanes of Plaka, each about 400 metres from Syntagma metro station. Agencia Model Management and Happy People Models are in Kolonaki at the foot of Lycabettus Hill, closest to Evangelismos station. Furthest from the metro is Base Models in Kypseli: the nearest station, Victoria, is about 1.3 km away.
The oldest catalogue agency in Athens is Cristi Models: its website gives the year 1980. The story of Matharikou Models starts in 1981, when Eleni Matharikou founded an advertising studio; today it is an agency for children, teenagers, adults, families and actors. Happy People Models has worked since 1990 as an events, PR and model agency and has a branch in Thessaloniki. Fashion Cult was founded in 1991, Base Models has worked in advertising since 1992, Ace Models opened in September 1995 and X-Ray Models was founded by Elio Alnetti in 1996. D Model Agency was founded by Sofia Daichristou in 2005, Agencia Model Management was opened by Xenia Kontou in January 2012, and The Legion MGT was founded in 2016 by a former model and a booker. Ace Models calls itself the largest model agency in Greece.
Several agencies have short records in the catalogue for now. On 11 October 2026 the Attitude Models domain showed only a notice that the site was under construction; directories list it as an acting and model agency. The Avant Models profile has an address and women's and men's boards, and we found no founding year or company details. Base Models has no boards assigned in the catalogue because its website has one shared list of actors, models and talent.
Ten agencies each have a women's and a men's board, 4 a talent board, 3 a new faces board, 2 a commercial board and 1 a kids board. You will find agencies by board on the pages women, men, talent, new faces, commercial and kids. Fashion agencies set height requirements: Cristi Models asks for at least 1.72 m for women and 1.80 m for men, and Future Models for more than 1.72 m and an age of 15 to 22.
The neighbouring municipalities
Athens has grown together with the surrounding municipalities of Attica, so some agencies of the capital's market are formally outside Athens. Our catalogue has five of them:
- Paleo Faliro (2) is a seaside municipality south of the centre. Manousaki Models, by the Batis tram stop, and VN Model Management work here.
- Argyroupoli (1) is a southern suburb on Vouliagmenis Avenue, along which metro line 2 runs. New Model Agency is based here.
- Marousi (1) is a northern suburb linked to the centre by metro line 1. Bookers Model Agency works here.
- Nea Smyrni (1) is a municipality between the centre and the sea. Office Models is on Syngrou Avenue.
Together with the 13 Athens agencies that makes 18 of the 24 Greek agencies. In Piraeus, Glyfada and Kifissia we found no agency with a live website and a model board.
Fees for applicants, schools and payment
These facts come from the agencies' own websites and terms. We show them on the agency profiles as well, so that you can compare before you apply.
- Matharikou Models: the commission is 30% of gross income. Cooperation starts with a payment of €90 for the presentation file, training and onboarding; it is non-refundable and is paid again when the contract is renewed. The contract is exclusive, and leaving early without valid notice costs 15% of the fees earned so far, and at least €400.
- Happy People Models: paid modelling workshops, a one-month course for €300 plus VAT and a two-month advanced online course for €500 plus VAT.
- Cristi Models: the owner, Cristi Krana, runs a paid modelling school, Cristi Academy, next to the agency. Before you enrol, ask the price and whether the school is linked to being taken on by the agency.
- Future Models: on the same website the owner, George Koutoulias, presents the Models Academy school and the beauty pageants Miss Tourism Greece and Manhunt Greece.
- The Legion MGT: the agency warns that fake scouts, agents and photographers approach people using its name. Always check a contact on its website.
- D Model Agency: applications from under-18s are accepted only with a guardian.
Payment terms are described publicly by agencies in the neighbouring municipalities. New Model Agency writes that it pays the model only once the client has paid and no sooner than 6 months after the job, and on average 8 to 12 months for TV commercials, shoots, series and catwalk. Bookers Model Agency adds a 20% service charge plus VAT to the model's fee for the client. Ask other agencies about this yourself, and ask for the answer in writing.
What work to expect in Athens
Athens agencies name advertising first when they describe their work. The Matharikou Models mandate covers TV, radio and cinema commercials, catalogues and magazines, fashion shows, the internet and social media. Base Models calls itself an actors, models and talent agency for television and print advertising, film and series. So commercial models, children, families and actors get much of the work here, alongside fashion models.
The womenswear brand BSB has its headquarters in Athens, and the attica department stores trade here. Advertising also pays for usage rights, so before you confirm a job, ask where, for how long and in which countries the ad will run, and who is paid when the rights are renewed. How to get ready for castings is covered in model castings: how to prepare.
Athens Fashion Week
Athens Fashion Week (until its renaming, Athens Xclusive Designers Week, AXDW) is the official fashion week of Athens and the only one in the country. It takes place twice a year, in October–November and March–April, and its 30th, anniversary edition was held at the Zappeion in April 2022. The organisation is led by its president, Tonia Fouseki. The organisers describe the event as a place where established and emerging Greek designers meet the media and buyers.
38th Athens Fashion Week: 30 October to 4 November 2026
The venue is the former Petalouda Mouzaki textile factory, 41 Kifisou Avenue, in Egaleo in western Athens. The dates and venue are on the poster on the official website and in the organiser's social media posts. The event is also in our fashion calendar.
The event changes venue from edition to edition:
| Edition | Dates | Venue |
|---|---|---|
| 35th | 6–9 November 2024 | Stone Warehouse of the Piraeus Port Authority |
| 36th | 2–7 April 2025 | the same; some shows at the Piraeus Municipal Theatre and in Glyfada |
| 37th | 11–17 November 2025 | former Public Tobacco Factory in Athens; separate shows at the Telekom Center Athens and the Glyfada Golf Club |
| 38th | 30 October to 4 November 2026 | former Petalouda Mouzaki textile factory, Egaleo |
There was no numbered edition in spring 2026: the 38th follows the 37th directly.
What the 37th edition looked like
According to the organisers' review, the 37th edition ran for seven days. Collections were shown by Paris Valtadoros, Lakis Gavalas, Yiorgos Eleftheriades, Tassos Mitropoulos, Kathy Heyndels – Marios Togos, Klelia Andrali, Olga Karaververis, Dassios, Daphne Valente, who marked 40 years in fashion, Christina Zafeiriou Couture, Ioanna Kourbela and Vassilis Zoulias. The Greek fashion publication Cova Journal counted 19 shows at the Tobacco Factory, with 27 designers and emerging talents.
- New designers' awards. Eleven designers competed in the New Designers Awards by Skip and the three winners received €1,000 each; Sophia Chantal was named best new designer.
- Students. Students and graduates of AKTO College also showed their work.
- Broadcasts. The shows are streamed live on the official website, and the public broadcaster ERT is the official broadcaster.
What it means for a model
Athens Fashion Week is an event for local designers, so its models are mostly chosen by Athens agencies and the designers themselves. Before each edition the organiser announces open castings on its Instagram and Facebook accounts: one such call asked for women from 170 cm, men from 184 cm and plus-size women from 170 cm. After the 37th edition Cova Journal wrote that the casting had become more diverse and the models were better prepared on the runway, but that plus-size models were still missing. Happy People Models, an agency in our catalogue, was among the event's official supporters in 2022.
If you want to take part, ask your agency a month before the event when the castings are, and follow the organiser's accounts. Runway requirements are covered in the guide runway model, and the guide model castings: how to prepare will help you get ready.
How a Lithuanian model gets to Athens
The safest route is through a mother agency in Lithuania. It sends Athens agencies your digitals, measurements and a video, and once there is an offer it helps you weigh the terms: the commission, the exclusivity, the payment term and the costs. You can also apply directly, in the way the agency's own website describes.
As an EU citizen you need neither a work permit nor a residence permit: for up to three months an identity card or passport is enough. If you only fly in for jobs and keep living in Lithuania, you do not have to register in Greece. For the agency to pay you, you may need a Greek tax number; this, along with tax for non-residents, is explained in the Greece guide.
From Athens International Airport metro line 3 runs to the centre and on to Piraeus; it takes about an hour to Piraeus, and the centre is on the way. Express buses run to Syntagma Square (X95), Piraeus (X96), the intercity bus stations (X93) and Elliniko metro station (X97).
Housing and transport
We found no reliable public data on model apartment prices in Athens, so ask for the housing cost in writing, ask whether the agency will deduct it from your fees, and check it later on your statement. Because fees in Greece are paid out months later, ask what you will live on in the first weeks.
As a guide, there is the price index of the property listings portal Spitogatos. It put the asking rent for student-type flats in the Municipality of Athens at €13.3 per square metre a month in the second quarter of 2026, so a 40 m² flat would cost about €530 before utilities. Across Attica asking rents rose 4.5% in a year. These are listing prices for long-term lets; a short-term let for a visiting model usually costs more.
OASA tickets
The metro, tram, buses and trolleybuses all belong to the transport organisation OASA. The fares have been in force since 1 June 2020 and were the same on the OASA website on 11 October 2026:
- a 90-minute ticket for all modes is €1.20; a pack of 5 tickets is €5.70 and a 10+1 pack €12;
- a 24-hour ticket is €4.10 and a 5-day ticket €8.20;
- a 30-day pass is €27, or €45 with airport journeys; it can be loaded only onto a personalised ATH.ENA Card;
- the metro ticket to or from the airport is €9, and a return €16 (the return journey must be made within 30 days);
- the airport express bus ticket is €5.50;
- a 3-day tourist ticket with a trip to the airport and back is €20.
Ordinary tickets and passes are valid on the metro only as far as Koropi station, so the last stretch to the airport needs a separate ticket. Full-fare tickets can also be paid for with a contactless bank card at the validator. If you have three or four castings in a day, the 24-hour ticket pays for itself from the fourth journey, and the 30-day pass from the 23rd.
Minors modeling in Athens
Children under 15 may work in advertising, fashion shows and photo shoots only with a Labour Inspectorate permit, which the client obtains. The permit lasts at most three months, and daily working time is limited to between 2 and 5 hours depending on age. In Athens, Matharikou Models represents children and teenagers, as do New Model Agency and Bookers Model Agency in the neighbouring municipalities. The hour limits and other conditions are in the Greece guide.
What to expect in your first season
- Most of your invitations will be to castings for advertising. A few weeks without bookings is normal.
- The money comes late: the agency pays only once the client has paid, and that can take 6 to 12 months. Have savings to live on.
- Check every deduction, the commission and the tax withheld on your model statement.
- If an agency asks for money for a presentation file, photos or workshops, check the amount on its profile and compare it with others. Be wary of pressure to pay at once and of people who write in an agency's name from personal accounts: these are signs of a modeling scam.
- Before you sign an exclusive contract, read what it costs to leave early. Risky clauses are covered in the guide modeling contract.
