Brand ambassador

Also called: face of the brand

A brand ambassador is a model or well-known person who represents one brand over a long period: in campaigns, at events and on social media.

How it works

Unlike a one-off campaign, an ambassador contract runs for months or years. The model becomes the brand's "face": several shoots, events, content creation, and often a commitment not to work for competitors.

Three parts of the contract matter most: how much and what kind of work per year, the usage rights and the exclusivity. They decide directly how much other work the model can take.

Ambassador status raises a model's value but limits freedom. So the contract should be well paid and clear about what happens if it ends.

In practice

A sports brand offers a model a one-year ambassador contract: two campaigns, four events and two social media posts a month. Exclusivity covers only sportswear and footwear. The agency negotiates that post content is agreed in advance and that after a year the contract renews only if both sides agree.

What to watch for

  • Exclusivity must be defined precisely: which competitors, how long.
  • Find out how much content a month is required.
  • Show the contract to your agency or a lawyer.

02Can an ambassador work for other brands?
