Promotional model

Also called: event model, brand promoter

A promotional model presents a brand in person at trade fairs, events, shopping centres or launches, talking to visitors.

How it works

This job is more about talking than being photographed. The model explains the product, hands out samples, draws people to the stand, sometimes poses for photos with visitors. A tidy look, languages and a good mood all day matter most.

Promotional work is paid by the hour or day and often happens at weekends. It is a popular side income for students and new models.

This is also where fake offers most often appear: "event work abroad" that turns out to be club work. Real promotional work has a clear client, place, hours and contract.

In practice

A cosmetics brand hires four promotional models for three days at a trade fair. They talk about a new cream, hand out samples and invite visitors to try the product. The work runs from 10 am to 6 pm with a lunch break, is paid by the day, and the contract sets out the dress code and duties.

What to watch for

  • Before the job, find out the client, place, hours and dress code.
  • Check offers of "event work abroad" especially carefully.
  • Comfortable shoes are a must: you will be on your feet all day.
