Women modeling agencies in Ireland

There are 19 modeling agencies in Ireland, 2 of them holding a state licence or a professional-association membership. Below: every agency with its boards and founding year, a comparison table, and what international models need to know. We do not vouch for agencies: each profile shows what we found about it, good and bad.

Ireland has no licence written for model agencies, no register of them and no trade association; it has only a general employment-agency licence, and we found two agencies from our catalogue on the official list of its holders. So our catalogue lists every business that represents models, but it does not vouch for them: each profile shows what we found, good and bad, including fees charged to applicants with their prices, schools and courses, the company's status in the register, press reports and history. The catalogue has 19 agencies: 12 in Dublin and one each in Cork, Limerick, Waterford, Killarney, Kinvara, Kildare and Bettystown. Northern Ireland's agencies are in the United Kingdom catalogue.

Ireland for international models

  • As an EU citizen you need no visa, work permit or registration in Ireland: a valid passport or national ID card is enough. Ireland is not in the Schengen Area, so your document is checked at the border.
  • To register with Revenue, the Irish tax authority, or to be paid through payroll, you need a Personal Public Service number (PPS number). You apply online at MyWelfare.ie, then attend an appointment in person, and the number arrives by post. Before you travel, ask the agency whether it will need the number.
  • No law or association sets the commission in Ireland. The one published scale we found is that of the Dublin agency Young Artists Management: 10% for theatre and radio, 15% for film and television, 20% for commercials. Have your commission, and the amount it is calculated on, written into your contract.
  • The Employment Agency Act 1971 forbids an employment agency to charge a fee solely for agreeing to look for work. Whether it reaches model agencies that are not on the list of licensed agencies has not been officially settled. Some agencies in the catalogue charge for registration or photos: the amounts are on their profiles.
  • We found no general withholding tax in Ireland on a fee paid by a private client; 20% is withheld only when a state body pays. The Ireland–Lithuania treaty lets income from independent work be taxed only in Lithuania, unless you have a fixed base in Ireland or stay more than 183 days. Whether the rule for entertainers applies to a model is not confirmed, so talk to a tax adviser.
  • For a short stay, bring your European Health Insurance Card: it gives you necessary treatment in the public health system free of charge. Ask Sodra before you travel about an A1 certificate, which confirms that you stay insured in Lithuania.

How this list is made

The list includes every agency that represents models. We check the facts on each agency's own website, in public company registers, on association member lists and in the press, and publish what we find: fees charged to applicants, schools, company status, press reports, history and memberships. We do not vouch for or recommend agencies. No agency pays to be listed and there are no rankings. Last checked: 2026-10-10.

01How many modeling agencies are there in Ireland?

This catalogue lists 19 agencies in Ireland, including Morgan The Agency, Assets Model Agency, First Management and Catwalk Model Agency. It includes every agency that represents models; we do not vouch for them, and each profile shows the facts we found, good and bad.

02Do modeling agencies in Ireland need a licence?

Ireland has no licence written for model agencies. It has a general employment-agency licence under a 1971 Act: it costs €500 a year, and the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) handles applications. The Act's definition is wide, but we found no official statement and no court ruling on whether model agencies must hold the licence. Two agencies from our catalogue are on the list of licensed agencies as at 1 October 2026: Fraser Models + Actors and Casting Ireland. Treat that as an extra check and not a requirement: judge an agency by its model board, its contract and its company details in the register. Our catalogue lists every business that represents models and does not vouch for them.

03What commission do Irish model agencies take?

No law or association sets it: the commission is whatever the contract says. The one published scale we found is that of Young Artists Management, a Dublin agency for children and young adults: 10% for theatre and radio work, 15% for film and television, and 20% for commercials and print advertising. That is one example, not a market rule, so read the percentage, and the amount it is calculated on, in your own contract.

04Can an Irish agency charge a registration fee?

The Employment Agency Act 1971 forbids an employment agency to charge a fee solely for agreeing to look for work for someone, and its other fees must stay within a scale approved by the Minister. The Act has no special rule for models, and whether it reaches model agencies without a licence has not been settled. In practice some agencies do charge: Casting Ireland asks for a one-off, non-refundable registration fee of €14.99, Young Artists Management takes a combined photographic and maintenance fee on registration, from €60 for one child to €100 for four, and Eko Model Management sells optional headshot days at €60. We show facts like these on the agency's profile so that you can compare.

05How much does a model earn in Ireland?

We cannot give you figures: there are no official data on models' earnings, and we found no agency rate card and no credible survey of day rates. The minimum hourly wage is €14.15 in 2026, but it applies only to employees, for example extras paid through payroll, and not to a self-employed booking. The agency commission comes off a fee, and a self-employed model pays tax and contributions personally. One agency says the money usually arrives within about a month, and sometimes takes up to three.

06From what age can you model in Ireland?

Children under 16 may work in advertising, cultural and artistic projects only under a licence, which the employer requests in writing from the Workplace Relations Commission at least 21 days ahead. The conditions the Commission publishes for film licences limit time at the place of work: up to 5 hours a day under the age of 7, up to 7½ hours from 7 to 13 and up to 8 hours over 13; the children must be supervised by a chaperone. At 16 and 17 you may work up to 8 hours a day and 40 a week, between 06:00 and 22:00.

07Is there an association of model agencies in Ireland?

No: we found no working association, so the catalogue shows no memberships. The company register has only Irish Model Agency Association Limited, registered in 1985 and dissolved in 1993. The related bodies speak for others: Irish Equity is the performers' union, and the Creative & Communications Association represents advertising agencies. We found no union of models either.

08What papers does a Lithuanian model need to work in Ireland?

A passport or national ID card is enough: you need no visa, no work permit and no registration with the immigration authorities. If you only fly in for jobs and live in Lithuania, there is no further step in Ireland. To register with Revenue or to be paid through payroll you need a PPS number: you apply at MyWelfare.ie with your ID, proof of address and, if you live outside Ireland, the reason you need the number. An agency may ask for it only when you start work.

09Is tax withheld from a non-resident model's fee in Ireland?

We found no general withholding on fees paid by private clients. The 20% Professional Services Withholding Tax is deducted only when a state body or one of its companies pays; a non-resident can claim it back. The Ireland–Lithuania double tax treaty (S.I. No. 503 of 1997) says income from independent work is taxed only in Lithuania unless you have a fixed base in Ireland or stay more than 183 days. Entertainers' income may be taxed where they perform, and whether a model counts as an entertainer is not confirmed. So talk to a tax adviser before your first job.

10Is a model in Ireland an employee or self-employed?

There is no special rule for models. Status is decided case by case under the five-step test set out in the Code of Practice on Determining Employment Status, and Revenue, the Department of Social Protection and the Workplace Relations Commission each decide for their own purposes. Agencies mostly pay a fee less commission, but there is also an extras agency that pays through payroll. A self-employed model pays Class S social insurance (PRSI): 4.2% of income up to 30 September 2026 and 4.35% from 1 October.

11Where are most model agencies in Ireland?

In Dublin: our catalogue lists 12 of Ireland's 19 agencies there, half of them in the Dublin 2 postal district. One agency each works in Cork, Limerick, Waterford, Killarney, Kinvara in County Galway, Kildare and Bettystown. Northern Ireland's agencies, for example those in Belfast, are in our United Kingdom catalogue because different rules apply to them.
