Hamburg for international models
- A single HVV ticket in the Hamburg AB zone costs €4.10 and a day ticket €8.20. If you stay a full month, the €63 Deutschlandticket pays off: it is a subscription you can cancel by the 10th of the current month.
- The S-Bahn line S1 takes 25 minutes from the airport to the main station and runs every 10 minutes during the day. On the way back to the airport, board one of the first three cars, because the train splits at Ohlsdorf.
- Before you travel, ask the agency to confirm in writing the price of the model apartment and any other costs it will advance. As a guide, the Mietenspiegel 2025 put the average long-term rent in Hamburg at €9.94 per m² a month before utilities.

How this list is made
Each agency is checked against public company registers, state licence requirements and professional-association member lists, then against its own website. Only agencies confirmed as operating are published. No agency pays to be listed and there are no rankings or reviews. Last verified: 2026-10-10.
01How many modeling agencies are there in Hamburg?
This catalogue lists 30 verified agencies in Hamburg, including Model Management, PMA (Promod Model Agency), M4 Models and Mega Model Agency. Only agencies with a current licence or professional-association membership, or confirmed by at least two independent sources, are included.
02Which parts of Hamburg are modeling agencies in?
We have an office address for 26 of the 30 agencies. Five are in Rotherbaum, 4 in Neustadt, 3 in the Karolinenviertel in St. Pauli, and 2 each in Eimsbüttel and Harvestehude. There is one agency each in Altstadt, St. Georg, Sternschanze, Ottensen, Bahrenfeld, Hoheluft-Ost, Winterhude, Lokstedt, Niendorf and Bergedorf. By borough, most are in Eimsbüttel (11) and Hamburg-Mitte (9).
03Why is Hamburg called Germany's model capital?
That is what NDR calls it in a report of 1 May 2026, which says no other German city has agencies of such importance. On the last published list of the association VELMA (June 2025), Hamburg appears for six of the eleven members. The big clients About You, the Otto Group and bonprix are based in the city.
04What kind of modeling work is there in Hamburg?
Mostly commercial work: e-commerce shoots, catalogues, lookbooks and advertising. About You has its headquarters in Hamburg, and the Otto Group and its company bonprix work here. Catwalk work is concentrated at Berlin Fashion Week in January–February and July. We found no statistic on the share of bookings that e-commerce makes up.
05Does Hamburg have a fashion week?
Germany's fashion week is held in Berlin twice a year. In 2026 it ran from 30 January to 2 February and on 2–5 July, and the next is scheduled for 29 January to 1 February 2027. Models with Hamburg agencies travel to Berlin for catwalk castings.
06How much does public transport cost in Hamburg?
Under HVV fares from 1 January 2026, a single ticket in the Hamburg AB zone is €4.10, a short-trip ticket €2.10 and a day ticket €8.20. Tickets bought online or in the app are 7% cheaper. The monthly Deutschlandticket costs €63 and is valid on local and regional transport across Germany.
07Do Hamburg agencies take models from Lithuania?
Yes. An EU citizen needs neither a work permit nor a residence permit; an identity card or passport is enough. A Lithuanian model usually gets there through a mother agency that sends Hamburg agencies digitals and measurements. You can also apply directly, using the form or email address on the agency's own website. Tax and registration are covered in the Germany guide.
