Modeling agencies in Esbjerg: 1 agency (2026)

There is 1 modeling agency in Esbjerg. Below: every agency with its boards and founding year, a comparison table, and what international models need to know. We do not vouch for agencies: each profile shows what we found about it, good and bad.

Esbjerg, the largest city in West Jutland and Denmark's North Sea port, has one agency in our catalogue out of 32 in Denmark: Facetoface, the former Memborg Models, which the photographer Lene Memborg moved to Esbjerg and renamed in 2018 after 20 years in Billum and Varde. In October 2026 its website was a one-page notice that a new site was being built: there is no model board, bookings go by phone and applications by e-mail. The catalogue lists every business that represents models; we do not vouch for them, and each profile shows what we found, good and bad. The nearest bigger markets are Aarhus and Odense.

In short

  • The catalogue has one agency in Esbjerg out of 32 in Denmark: Facetoface, the former Memborg Models, in Esbjerg since 2018.
  • We do not vouch for it. In October 2026 the site was only a notice about a new site being built: no model board, no address, no requirements, so the catalogue assigns it no boards.
  • The business is live in the register with 3 to 4 employees in 2026; the owner, Lene Memborg, is a press photographer who looks for characterful types.
  • The nearest bigger markets are Aarhus (4 agencies) and Odense (2).

Facetoface

Esbjerg is the largest city in West Jutland and Denmark's North Sea port. Of the 32 Danish agencies in our catalogue, one is here. Denmark has no licence for model agencies, no register of them and no association of agencies, so the catalogue lists every business that represents models. We do not vouch for them, and each profile shows what we found, good and bad: fees charged to applicants, the company's status in the register, press reports and the state of the website. Facetoface is included with a reservation: the business is live, but there is no board at the moment.

Facetoface is the former Memborg Models. The local weekly Ugeavisen Varde wrote on 7 December 2018 that after 20 years in Billum and Varde Lene Memborg moved her agency to Esbjerg and renamed it Facetoface; the agency supplies models to advertising agencies and photographers. In the copy of the Danish company register her sole proprietorship Face to face (CVR 13361576) at Kirkegade 11, 1., 6700 Esbjerg was registered on 1 June 2018, status normal, with 3 to 4 employees in 2026. Because the site prints no address, the catalogue carries none, and Kirkegade 11 is a register entry.

What kind of people the agency looks for is told by the headline and summary of a JydskeVestkysten article of 17 September 2018 (the text itself is paywalled): Lene Memborg is a press photographer and the owner of a West Jutland model agency who looks for characterful types rather than only beautiful models, and finds them even at the supermarket cold counter. This is an agency for the commercial and advertising market, not a fashion board with foreign offices.

Two names can confuse, so to be clear. In the register the business is called Face to face, on the site and the Facebook page Facetoface, and until 2018 it was Memborg Models; the address line of the register copy still carries the old name Memborg Press og Models. All of these are the same sole proprietorship of Lene Memborg, not three agencies. A sole proprietorship means your contract is with the person herself, who is liable for its obligations with all her assets, and the register shows such a business as Aktiv or normal. A CVR number proves only that the business exists; it is not a licence or an inspection.

On 18 October 2026 the site facetoface.dk was a one-page notice, "Vi skifter look": the agency is updating its digital catwalk, and a new site with new faces is coming soon. No board, no requirements, no address; bookings go through the director Lene Memborg by phone, applications with photos by e-mail. Denmark's e-commerce act requires a commercial website to show a name, a physical address, an e-mail address and a CVR number, and a contact form is not enough; the current page shows a name, a phone number and an e-mail address. Until the new site is up, ask by e-mail before sending photos what clients will see, whether anything has to be paid for and who the contract is with. Check the site again in a few weeks.

The Esbjerg market and Southern Denmark

Esbjerg belongs to the Region of Southern Denmark, where our catalogue has three agencies: Facetoface in Esbjerg and two in Odense (CC Models and Ewa Talents Management). We found no agency office in Kolding, Vejle, Fredericia, Sønderborg, Aabenraa or Haderslev. Clients in West Jutland often find advertising models through the region's photographers, like Lene Memborg herself, whose agency grew out of press photography. The board of LESS Models in Herning lists Fredericia among its models' home towns, so Jutland models register there too. For a fashion career the nearest place is Aarhus, where Unique Models holds an open casting every Friday from 14.00 to 16.00 and Le Management has its registered seat; most agencies, 16 of 32, are in Copenhagen.

For anyone staying longer than three months, Esbjerg has an International Citizen Service centre where the CPR number is issued; there are such centres in Aarhus, Odense, Aalborg, Sønderborg and Copenhagen as well.

Children and age

The current Facetoface site gives no age limits, so the general Danish rules apply. A child under 13 needs a permit from the Director of the Working Environment Authority (Arbejdstilsynet) for a photo shoot, issued case by case under order no. 1713 of 18 December 2025; since 1 January 2026 the authority, not the police, issues them, and either the company or the parents can apply. From 13, shoots are allowed without a permit if they pose no danger to safety or health. The Danish Fashion Ethical Charter, which Facetoface has not signed, sets a floor of 16 for its signatory clients.

Before you apply

Agencies in Denmark need no licence, so the checking is yours: the site must show the company's name, address, e-mail and eight-digit CVR number, which you can check free of charge at datacvr.virk.dk. Fees are taxed as B-income, and an EU citizen needs only a passport for up to three months. All of this is in the Denmark guide.

  1. Take plain digitals in daylight; for an agency that looks for characterful types, natural photos matter more than a studio portfolio.
  2. Before you send anything, ask by e-mail whether the agency is taking new people while the site is being built, and when the board will be visible to clients again.
  3. Before you sign, ask for the contract in writing and look in it for the commission, the length of exclusivity and the payment term. No law or association sets the commission in Denmark.
  4. If someone writes to you in the agency's name from a personal account and proposes a casting over a video call, treat it as a sign of a modeling scam; check the contact through the phone number on the site.

Esbjerg for international models

  • As an EU citizen you need no work permit in Denmark: SIRI writes that an EU citizen may freely enter Denmark and begin to work upon arrival, with or without an EU residence document. For up to 3 months there is nothing to apply for; if you stay longer than 3 months, you apply through SIRI for the free EU residence document (form OD1A), which has no expiry date.
  • A tax card needs a CPR number or a tax number. If you work for 3 months or less, you get a tax number instead of a CPR number. If you intend to stay 3 months or more (6 months for EU citizens), you register with the Civil Registration Office in person at a Citizen Service centre with the EU residence document, your passport and proof of a permanent Danish address; International Citizen Service centres are in Copenhagen, Aarhus, Odense, Aalborg, Esbjerg and Sønderborg. Without a tax card an employer withholds 55% of a salary.
  • Fees in Denmark are B-indkomst: tax and the 8% labour-market contribution (am-bidrag) are not deducted from them, the recipient pays them; from 2026 am-bidrag on B income is paid only from the age of 18. A business must register for VAT once taxable sales exceed DKK 50,000 within a calendar year; below that, registration is optional.
  • Denmark has no artist or model withholding tax for non-residents. The Tax Agency's legal guide says limited tax liability arises only with employment by a Danish employer or a foreign employer with a permanent establishment in Denmark, or with an establishment of your own there. Our reading: a self-employed model living abroad who is paid a fee by a Danish agency or client for a few days' work owes no Danish tax on it and declares it at home. We did not read the treaty position for any country, so talk to a tax adviser and ask your home social-security institution about an A1 certificate.
  • If you are not an EU citizen, you need a residence and work permit (application fee for the work schemes DKK 6,810 in 2026). The exemption for models: professional models who work in Denmark for a short period in connection with companies holding significant international fashion shows and fairs are exempt from the work permit for up to 3 working days within 180 days, together or as three separate days; a visa is still needed where your nationality requires one. For other cases SIRI issues a guiding statement in writing.
  • Public payments and tax refunds go to a NemKonto; if you live abroad you can set up a non-Danish account. You can open a Danish bank account only once you have a tax card. An employer reporting a non-resident's pay must have your home-country Tax Identification Number since 2024.
  • No law or association sets the commission in Denmark and no agency publishes one; read the percentage, and the amount it is calculated on, in your contract. No law bans an agency's fees to models: Casablanca Models charges DKK 500 for a test shoot, Cast Agency Denmark a DKK 385 registration fee and JS Total Booking DKK 98 for a profile; the amounts are on the profiles.
  • The Danish Fashion Ethical Charter, run by Copenhagen Fashion Week, requires a model to be 16 (15 with dispensation and an adult), payment for work, and an LMS health check for every Danish model at a charter agency, paid for by the agency. International models at Copenhagen Fashion Week file a medical certificate valid for 2 years, usually paid for by the foreign agency or the model. The next fashion week, AW27, runs from 1 to 5 February 2027.

How this list is made

The list includes every agency that represents models. We check the facts on each agency's own website, in public company registers, on association member lists and in the press, and publish what we find: fees charged to applicants, schools, company status, press reports, history and memberships. We do not vouch for or recommend agencies. No agency pays to be listed and there are no rankings. Last checked: 2026-10-10.
