In short
- Our catalogue lists 16 agencies in Copenhagen out of 32 in Denmark, and three more in the suburbs of Hellerup, Klampenborg and Albertslund, which have their own pages.
- The catalogue lists every business that represents models, and we do not vouch for them. Nine of the 16 are on the public signatory list of the Danish Fashion Ethical Charter; the others are not, and two of them (BASIC CPH and Sonder Agency) are the city's biggest commercial agencies.
- None of the 16 Copenhagen agencies prints a fee for applicants. Nearby, JS Total Booking in Albertslund charges DKK 98 for a profile and sells photo sessions.
- Two Management Scandinavia still prints the number of a company that the register lists as dissolved; Selten Models shows a board with placeholder names; RAD Model Management's site has not been updated since 2023; CĀRE Models has no website at all.
- Berlingske wrote on 3 February 2026 that Scoop Models' founder had worked with the scout Jean-Luc Brunel; TV 2 Fyn reported on 5 September 2025 that fake scouts used Le Management's name on Instagram. Copenhagen Fashion Week AW27 runs from 1 to 5 February 2027.
This page covers what is specific to Copenhagen. The absence of a licence, what Danish law says about fees, tax, the rules for children and the papers you need as a foreign model are in the guide Modeling agencies in Denmark.
Where Copenhagen's agencies are
Denmark has no licence and no register for model agencies, and we found no association of them, so the catalogue lists every business that represents models and runs a board. That includes the old fashion houses of the city centre, the commercial agencies with thousands of faces in their archives, a one-page site with no board and an agency that exists only on Instagram and TikTok. We do not vouch for any of them, and we do not recommend any. Each profile shows what we found, good and bad: the company behind the name and its eight-digit CVR number where we found one, the status in the register, fees charged to applicants, application rules, press reports and history. A CVR number proves that a business exists, nothing more.
Thirteen of the 16 agencies give a street address on their site or in the company register. Most sit within a few hundred metres of each other in the old town, postcode area København K:
| Part of the city | Agencies | Street |
|---|---|---|
| København K, the old town (1100 to 1471) | Unique Models, Two Management Scandinavia, Scoop Models, Elite Model Management Copenhagen, Le Management and Le Management Kids | Ny Vestergade 7D and Ny Vestergade 5, Amagertorv 29 A (Klostergården), Østergade 55, Christian IX's Gade 1 |
| København V, Vesterbro (1662) | 2pm Management | Saxogade 2 |
| København N, Nørrebro (2200) | BASIC CPH and Sonder Agency, Selten Models, Gossip Model Management (register address) | Nannasgade 28, Blegdamsvej 6, Tagensvej 71 (c/o address in the register) |
| København Ø, Østerbro (2100) | Heartbreak Management, Étoile Models (register address), the active Two Management branch | Odensegade 6, Østerbrogade 130, Kalkbrænderiløbskaj 6 |
| No address printed or found | MA 11 Management, RAD Model Management, CĀRE Models | MA 11 writes "HQ Copenhagen"; RAD describes a "mobile office" in Paris, Copenhagen, New York and Hong Kong |
By board, 13 agencies have a women's board, 12 a men's board, 8 a new faces board, 5 a talent board, 2 a commercial board, 2 a kids board, 2 a curve board and 1 a sport board. No Copenhagen agency in the catalogue has a senior board; the nearest classic faces are in the archive of JS Total Booking in Albertslund and on the commercial boards of BASIC CPH.
The large fashion agencies
Unique Models
Unique Models opened in 1989, by its own account, and is the company Unique Models of Copenhagen A/S, CVR 13403147, registered on 1 August 1989 with 14 employees in the register and the office at Ny Vestergade 7D. The Lex encyclopedia writes that it was founded by a group of shareholders and Alexandra Foss Springborg, that the owners today are Salling, Aller, Egmont, Jacqueline Friis-Mikkelsen (Svane) and Jesper Thomsen, and that it discovered Freja Beha Erichsen, Eddie Klint, Josephine Skriver and Oliver Bjerrehuus. Jacqueline Svane has been CEO since 1998 and sits on the steering committee of the Danish Fashion Ethical Charter as the representative of one of the country's eight largest agencies. The boards are Development, Mainboard and Direct for women and men, plus Unique Creatives for hair, make-up and styling; Unique Social, for digital personalities, was launched in 2018.
Unique is the one Copenhagen agency that answers the money questions in writing. Its Q&A document says that starting as a model costs nothing, that the walking, acting and training courses for new models are free, that contracts bind for one year while three years is "the most normal in the industry", that models are never weighed and that the agency prefers them to be 16 before they work in Denmark. The application page sets a minimum age of 14, because the agency does not represent children, and announces an open casting every Friday from 14:00 to 16:00; a reply comes within 14 days and only if the agency is interested. In April 2018 the agency scouted in Salling department stores and asked for girls aged 15 to 21 of at least 169 cm and boys aged 15 to 25. In May 2025 Fashion Forum reported that Unique joined FAIRe, a European alliance of more than 50 agencies drawing up ethical rules for AI in fashion. No commission rate is printed anywhere on the site; ask for it in writing before you sign.
Scoop Models
Scoop Models was founded in 1993 by the former top model Bente Lundquist, who started in Paris at 16 and became a favourite of the photographer Helmut Newton. The company Scoop Models of Copenhagen ApS, CVR 16267503, has a start date of 1 August 1992 in the register and the office in Klostergården at Amagertorv 29 A. Lex writes that the agency helped launch Kirstin Liljegren, Mathias Lauridsen and Amanda Nørgaard and took part in the DR series "Modellerne" in 2000; Scoop Models, A Management (artists) and Scoop Social share a staff of 14. The boards are women, men, new faces and talent. Requirements are printed: girls aged 14 to 22 and 172 to 184 cm, boys aged 15 to 25 and 183 to 190 cm. Applicants under 18 bring a parent to the casting, the agency does not cast by Skype, FaceTime or webcam, and only suitable applicants get a reply. The contact page warns that people online falsely pose as Scoop scouts.
On 3 February 2026 the daily Berlingske reported, under the headline that a Danish model agency confirms cooperation with Epstein's model scout, that the agency's name appeared in released Jeffrey Epstein documents. Director Bente Lundquist confirmed that she had worked with Epstein's friend, the scout Jean-Luc Brunel, and said she had no idea what other people's sexual interests were. Only the standfirst of the article was readable behind the paywall; it does not say that the agency or its founder is accused of anything. The same month the station Radio4 asked former Scoop models of the 1990s who had visited Epstein and Brunel to get in touch. The catalogue records both items with the agency's reply.
Elite Model Management Copenhagen
Elite Model Management Copenhagen is the oldest agency in the city under another name. Lex and Fashion Forum write that Trice Tomsen founded Copenhagen Models, the first Danish model agency, in 1966 or 1967 from her room on Ny Østergade; the two sources differ by a year and the agency's own site prints neither. In 1987 it merged with John Casablancas' Elite and took its present name. According to models.com it was sold outright to Elite World in 2009, when Trice Tomsen stepped back and the long-time head booker Munir Bouylud became director; Fashion Forum marked the end of her career in November 2010 and her 2008 award Årets Respekt. The company Elite Models Management Copenhagen ApS, CVR 32072542, dates from 3 March 2009 and has 22 employees in the register; the office is at Østergade 55, 3rd floor, and the earlier unit on Gothersgade is listed as ceased. Lex credits the agency with the careers of Cecilie Thomsen, Caroline Brasch Nielsen, Nina Agdal and Tobias Sørensen, and Mona Tougaard, who won Denmark's Elite Model Look in 2017 at 15, is on its board.
The boards are image, mainboard, development, the danes and future faces, which the catalogue maps to women, men and new faces. The get-scouted page prints no height or age limits. It does print two promises: scouts and agents will never ask for payment to be recruited and will never ask for nude or lingerie photos. Under-18s need a parent's approval, and a parent attends any meeting. The site carries a standing notice that people online falsely pose as Elite agents and scouts, with the office number +45 33 15 14 14 to verify any approach.
Le Management and Le Management Kids
Le Management was founded in 2010 in Aarhus by Jannick Lindberg and Martin Lyne; the head office is still in Aarhus, and the Copenhagen office is at Christian IX's Gade 1, 3rd floor. The company Le Management ApS, CVR 33060009, dates from 8 July 2010. Fashion Forum reported on 2 September 2024 that the owners set up the holding company Brand Institute Group A/S, in which the investor Per Christensen of MS2 Invest took the majority of the shares, and called Le Management Northern Europe's largest model agency with more than 100 employees in the group and offices in Copenhagen, Stockholm, Oslo and Hamburg. On 20 May 2025 the same paper wrote that CEO Jannick Lindberg initiated the FAIRe alliance after a large German client demanded full rights to photos so that it could build digital models from the body parts of different models. The boards are Women Main, Next and New, Men Main, Next and New, a Cast board and Le Management Society for music, sports and acting talent. The agency calls itself a co-founder of the Danish Fashion Ethical Charter, promises each model a dedicated agent and holds events on body awareness several times a year. The application page has a country chooser and prints no requirements and no fee; Lex names Mathilde Brandi, Laura Julie and Line Brems among its models.
On 5 September 2025 TV 2 Fyn, citing the fact-checker Tjekdet, reported that Instagram profiles posing as Le Management agents asked young women for their age, measurements and intimate pictures. The agency's legal adviser Ditte Roesgaard said that Le Management had received a number of enquiries from people contacted by someone claiming to work for it, and that a profile called "Alexander Stormgaard" claimed to be a Le Management scout although no such person works there. The report concerns impostors, not the agency. Elite and IMG carry the same warning on their sites.
Le Management Kids is the children's division, run under the same CVR number from the same Copenhagen address. Its site says it has been the kids division since 2012, when Le Management acquired an existing children's agency, although one news post says "est. 2010". It represents children aged 0 to 16, works without binding contracts, says most jobs are in Aarhus or Copenhagen on weekdays and that parents can always decline a job. No fee is mentioned.
2pm Management
2pm Management was founded in 1999 by the former model Peter Damgaard; Lex adds the former booker Michelle Jensen as co-founder, names Lykke May Andersen as the first model, and lists Helena Christensen, Frederikke Sofie, Chloe Nørgaard and Louise Pedersen among later ones. The agency won a Børsen Gazelle in 2005, and Damgaard has been sole owner since 2009. The company 2PM ApS, CVR 21059439, has a start date of 1 July 1998, two employees in the register and the office at Saxogade 2 in Vesterbro. Today the site shows one "Talents" list of six women, among them the actresses Connie Nielsen and Amanda Collin, and no men. There is no application page: the agency describes itself as merging fashion and entertainment, and the charter's text credits 2pm's experience with teaching for its recommendation of a short course for models on diet and mental health. In May 2017 Soundvenue reported that 2pm model Ulrikke Høyer described on Facebook how Louis Vuitton's casting team treated her in Japan; Damgaard said part of her mission had succeeded, while the casting director Ashley Brokaw denied the account in Business of Fashion. DR reported on 8 June 2017 that the Health Minister and the head of Danish Fashion Institute wrote to Louis Vuitton asking it to follow the charter's principles.
Heartbreak Management
Heartbreak Management was founded in Oslo in 1988, opened the booking platform Pholk in 2003 and the Copenhagen office at Odensegade 6 in 2010. The agents for Denmark are Nanna Nyhus and Andrea Brøndsted, and the CEO is Jonas Mangerud. A search of the Danish register for "Heartbreak Management" returned no company; the office appears to work under the Norwegian company, so the catalogue has no CVR number for it. The boards are International, Scandinavia, New Faces and Curve for women, International, Scandinavia, New Faces and Non binary for men, and a Social board. The join form asks for age and height and says the agency looks for natural people without cosmetic procedures; no fee is mentioned. The agency says it was one of seven Danish agencies that signed the original Danish Fashion Ethical Charter, and its name is on the public signatory list.
Two Management Scandinavia
Two Management Scandinavia is the Copenhagen office of an agency that opened in Los Angeles in 2013 and, by its own account, represented more top models than any other West Coast agency by the end of its second year before opening in Barcelona, Berlin and Copenhagen. The site gives the office as Ny Vestergade 5 and prints the number CVR 39261545. That number belongs to Two Management Copenhagen A/S, registered in January 2018, which the register lists as "opløst efter erklæring", dissolved by declaration of the owners. The active entity is the branch of a foreign company, Two Management Europe, CVR 37725161, at Kalkbrænderiløbskaj 6 in Østerbro. Before you sign, ask which of the two is your contracting party. The boards are women and men; the submit page says there is no open call, takes height, measurements and photos and promises a reply within two weeks if the agency is interested. On the day we checked, the Scandinavia board page returned a server error.
The small fashion agencies
Gossip Model Management
Gossip Model Management has women's and men's boards; the women's board includes models tagged "curvy" and "midsize" and Nadja Bender. The directory ModelScouts says it was established in 2009 by Rosa Yalcin as a boutique agency, but the site has no history page (the About Us link returns 404), and the current company Gossip Management ApS, CVR 43483935, was founded on 1 September 2022 with Rahima Rosa Yalcin Hansen as director and seven employees in July 2026. The site prints no street address; the register gives a c/o address at Tagensvej 71 since June 2026, after earlier addresses on Sværtegade and Schacksgade. Applications go by email with natural photos, no make-up and no filters; the height floor is 1.73 m for women and 1.83 m for men. No fee is mentioned. The agency is on the charter's signatory list.
Étoile Models
Étoile Models says it has discovered, developed and represented models for international campaigns and runways since 2010; Fashion Model Directory gives 2014. The boards are Mainboard, Rising and Male Models, and the news archive shows new models signed in 2025 and 2026. The site names the CEO as Michael Sølbæk and prints only an email and a phone number, while the register lists a sole proprietorship, Michael Severin / Étoile Models, CVR 30671104, at Østerbrogade 130, status active. The height range is 172 to 181 cm for women and 184 to 192 cm for men, there is no form, and the agency stresses that it works only with real models, not AI-generated ones. It is on the charter's signatory list as "Etoile Models".
MA 11 Management
MA 11 Management is the newest name. The directories models.com and modelglance say it was established in Copenhagen in 2024 by Benyamin Arno, who has more than a decade of international management and scouting experience, and models.com lists its models. The agency's own site is a single page with a statement, an email address, an Instagram handle and the words "HQ Copenhagen, Denmark": no board, no street address, no application form. A free-text search of the register for the name returned no company. If you deal with it, ask for the company name and CVR number in writing.
RAD Model Management
RAD Model Management was established in 2011 by Jovei Blink and represents only European male models, placing them with agencies, photographers and clients abroad; the site says boys start working abroad within six months and names Jil Sander, Fendi, Moncler and Guy Laroche in its news. It calls itself a boutique agency with a mobile office in Paris, Copenhagen, New York and Hong Kong, prints no address, and takes submissions at a Gmail address. The copyright line says 2020, the latest news items are from 2020 to 2023, and the Apply now link returned 404 when we checked. The board does show men described as based in Copenhagen. Treat the site as possibly dormant and ask when the agency last placed a model.
Selten Models
Selten Models calls itself the premier modeling agency of Scandinavia with offices in Copenhagen (Blegdamsvej 6), Oslo and Stockholm. The be-discovered page accepts only females aged 14 to 24 of at least 1.74 m, who email make-up free photos against a white wall; only those of interest are contacted, and no fee is mentioned. The Copenhagen and Oslo boards each show 40 photos, but every caption reads "NAME", the template's placeholder, there are no model pages, the image copyright line says 2020, and a search of the Danish register for the name returned nothing. The agency is in the catalogue because it is on the charter's signatory list and has a live site with a Copenhagen address; it is the first record we would drop under a stricter reading of "visible board".
CĀRE Models
CĀRE Models exists only on social media. The Instagram account @caremodelsdenmark had 1,104 followers when we checked and says the website caremodelsmgmt.com is "launching soon"; the TikTok account posts open calls for new faces and a fashion test shoot in Copenhagen. No address, no company and no public board were found. An open call that leads to a test shoot is normal; paying for it is not, so ask before you go who pays the photographer.
Commercial agencies and the family agencies around the city
BASIC CPH
BASIC CPH calls itself Denmark's largest model and actor agency. Its story began in 1991, when Sissi Antonsen started Stjernebooking and presented her first models to clients by bicycle; in 2003 the agency was relaunched as BASIC CPH, and the company BASIC CPH ApS, CVR 27230725, dates from 17 June 2003 with 55 employees in the register. The archive holds more than 6,500 women, men, children, sports, plus-size, hand and body models and actors, spread over the sub-sites KIDS, SPORT, PRO, PLUSSIZE and HAND & BODY, which the catalogue maps to seven boards. The FAQ says the agency sets no requirements for height, size or looks, takes in more models than many agencies because of its many different jobs, and does not allow a model to be registered with several agencies at once; everyone gets a reply within two to three weeks, and no fee is mentioned. The online form asks for height, clothing size and at least two portrait photos, with parents' contacts for under-18s. In January 2023 the agency announced a Børsen Gazelle 2022 for doubling its turnover over four years, naming LEGO, Zara, Bilka, Velux and H&M as clients. BASIC CPH is not on the charter's signatory list; that is a fact about the list, not a judgement.
Sonder Agency
Sonder Agency was launched in October 2021 as a sister agency of BASIC CPH, as a LinkedIn post by its head of booking Maria Westergaard announced, with the aim of celebrating diversity and challenging traditional ideas of beauty. It shows women's and men's boards and work for Mads Nørgaard, Henrik Vibskov and Illum. The contact page names Sissi Antonsen as chief officer, gives the same address as BASIC CPH, Nannasgade 28, and prints no CVR number; a search of the register found no separate Sonder company, so your contract would be with BASIC CPH ApS. The form asks for height, size, date of birth and front, side and full-body photos; no requirements and no fee are printed.
Star Kids, 1·kid modelmanagement and JS Total Booking
Three agencies in the suburbs have their own pages. Star Kids in Hellerup, on Strandvejen 58, is Star Kids Modelmanagement ApS, CVR 36081740, founded on 1 September 2014; it represents children aged 0 to 16 on boys', girls' and young fashion boards, says a fee is paid for every job and mentions no registration fee. 1·kid modelmanagement in Klampenborg was established in 2006, is run by Heidi Helmig, takes children living in Denmark aged 0 to 14 and lists Molo, Zara Kids, Mango and Dior among recent jobs. JS Total Booking in Albertslund is a model and extras bureau started in 1983 by Jytte Sørensen with about 2,500 people of all ages for commercials, TV series and films; it charges a one-off profile fee of DKK 98 and offers paid photo sessions, and the current company JS Total-Booking ApS dates from April 2021.

"None mentioned" means that the application pages we read on 18 October 2026 say nothing about a fee; it is not a promise. No Danish law sets or bans an agency's fees to models, and none sets the commission. The only fee ban in force is written for temp agencies that employ the worker, and no official text applies it to agencies that represent self-employed models. What does apply is marketing law, which forbids misleading sales and demands special care with children and young people, and contract law, under which an unreasonable clause can be set aside. The one documented charge in the Copenhagen market is paid by clients, not models: agencies whose models take the charter's health check add a health check fee of DKK 75 to every customer invoice.
No Copenhagen agency publishes its commission, and no Danish press source states a norm, so compare the percentage and what it is calculated on in the contract itself. The charter leaves pay to the parties and asks for "greater transparency". Unique's one-year binding period is the only published term; the same document calls three years usual. Everything else, including when you are paid after the client pays, belongs in the written agreement and on your statement.
What the press has written about Copenhagen agencies
Unpaid work was the big story of 2012 and 2013. On 9 August 2012 DR quoted Ida Burchardi, chair of the models' association Foreningen Danske Modeller, that over half of the models on the catwalks of Copenhagen Fashion Week accepted working for free. In a Politiken op-ed the same month, the former Unique model Anne Sophie Sonnergaard wrote that models rarely get paid for editorials, that many shows pay nothing because walking is treated as an honour, that payment can come up to a year and a half late, and that a friend was told her DKK 2,000 fee would instead be spent on retouching her legs. In a 2012 questionnaire of 130 models, 82% said they had also worked free during the year for portfolio pictures or as favours. By 6 August 2013 DR could write that all nine agencies it had asked said they now paid their models at fashion week and used no models under 16 there. On 11 August 2014 TV 2 reported that eight of the largest agencies agreed to let the association and Dansk Artist Forbund review their contracts; Unique's CEO confirmed that the contracts differed a lot. Standard contracts were still a goal in February 2015, and whether one was ever adopted is not known.
The Modelhouse Production case is the one Copenhagen-area bankruptcy in the record. Avisen.dk wrote on 15 February 2015 that an event coordinator employed by the agency in Greve was promised DKK 23,000 a month and paid 13,800, got no holiday pay, pension or contract, and was dismissed after contacting his union HK. The city court ordered the agency to pay him DKK 103,399, HK petitioned it into bankruptcy, and the business continued from the same address with the same director under the name 1st Modelbooking; HK's René Knudsen called it pure fraud. The director did not want to be interviewed. Modelhouse Production ApS was registered as a temp agency and ended on 29 July 2015; neither name has a live site today.
The 2026 Berlingske report on Scoop Models and the 2025 TV 2 Fyn report on fake Le Management scouts are set out above with each agency's reply. On the good side of the ledger, Fashion Forum reported Le Management's majority investor in September 2024, the FAIRe alliance on AI founded by Le Management's CEO and joined by Unique in May 2025, and interviewed Unique's CEO about fashion week work in January 2025; BASIC CPH announced its Børsen Gazelle in January 2023. We found no #MeToo story naming a Danish agency, photographer or scout, and no Trustpilot or Google review page for any of the 16 Copenhagen agencies.
Closed agencies and names you will still see
Several names appear in directories, old articles and even on the charter's signatory list although the business behind them has closed. The list carries no dates, so a closed agency can stay on it for years.
- Diva Models. An Aarhus agency founded in 1987 with a Copenhagen office, according to Lex. The company Diva Models ApS, CVR 29611270, was dissolved by merger into Diva Models Holding ApS with an end date of 8 June 2026, and divamodels.com no longer resolves. It is still listed on the charter.
- Two Management Copenhagen A/S. Dissolved by declaration; the agency itself works on through a foreign-company branch (see above).
- September Model Management. Founded on 16 October 2015 by Sophie Peebles and Giuliano Merolli, last office on Store Kongensgade 62A, dissolved by declaration with an end date of 15 April 2025. Sophie Peebles now runs Agentur CPH, an agency for photographers, stylists and sports talent without a model board. The charter still lists it.
- CPH Wolves. Active around 2012 to 2013; a former scout's profile says the agency closed in June 2013. No domain resolves and the register has no entry. Still on the charter list.
- Nouveau Model Agency. CVR 38370871, in Nørrebro, listed as ceased in the register.
- Modelhouse Production and 1st Modelbooking. Bankrupt in 2015 after the court case above.
- Dream Models and L'Agence. Sarah Louise Christiansen's Dream Models closed in January 2015 when she launched L'Agence; neither domain resolves now, and dreammodels.dk is a blog.
- Copenhagen Models. Not closed but renamed: it is today's Elite Model Management Copenhagen.
- Danish Models International, Scandinavian Models/Elite, Starsystem Denmark. Directory entries only, with no live site.
- B.OLD UNITY. A statement agency for models aged 45 plus run by Lise Hahnemann; the website does not resolve, the last agency posts are from 2022, and the register has no entry. On the charter list.
- SWAN MODELS. The charter's name for Swan Scouting Agency, a street-scouting business founded in 2018 by Clara Svane, daughter of Unique's CEO, which places models with Unique; it has no board and no website, so it is not an agency in the catalogue's sense.
Casting databases that are not agencies
Searches for a Copenhagen model agency return several sites that are not agencies: nobody selects you, you create a profile yourself, and the site sells your visibility to productions. The catalogue leaves them out because they represent nobody. You should know what they are, because some charge money.
- Modelcasting.dk calls itself a casting and model agency in Copenhagen and shows an archive, but models create their own profile online from the age of 15, free of charge. We treat it as a self-registration database; the owner of the catalogue may reverse that.
- A Casting in Frederiksberg, CVR 46380339, is a casting bureau for productions where actors, models and extras register themselves and are approved.
- CPH Casting is a database of actors, amateurs, models, dancers and extras, part of Mami Film Service, CVR 44041820.
- Go-Talent is a paid self-registration casting membership site.
- Onlinecasting.dk is an open casting site for extras, models and actors; one expired ad on it for a "Star Models Copenhagen" with paid courses led to a dead website.
- Modeljagten is a casting platform with a Trustpilot score of 3.2 from one review; Selfcast is a casting app; Børnecasting.dk sells paid children's casting events.
A database is not wrong in itself: extras work for commercials and films in Copenhagen is booked through such sites and through bureaus like JS Total Booking. The difference is that nobody negotiates for you. If a site charges a membership fee, count how many jobs it would take to earn it back.
The Copenhagen market
Copenhagen Fashion Week
Copenhagen Fashion Week describes itself as the biggest fashion week in Northern Europe and is held twice a year, in January or February and in August. The SS27 edition ran from 3 to 7 August 2026; the next, AW27, is scheduled for 1 to 5 February 2027. It is a foundation funded by industry contributions and commercial partnerships, with Zalando as strategic partner and main contributor; the CEO is Cecilie Thorsmark, since 2018, and the board is chaired by Thomas Klausen of Dansk Mode & Textil. Every brand on the schedule must meet 19 minimum sustainability standards, screened by an external committee led by Rambøll, and standard 19 is a signature of the Danish Fashion Ethical Charter. A show costs the brand an application fee of DKK 2,500 (waived under DKK 1 million turnover) and a runway package of DKK 9,000 to 40,500 depending on turnover, plus a sustainability fee of DKK 450 to 2,400; presentations cost DKK 5,000 to 28,000.
For models the casting rules matter more than the fees. Brands must file medical certificates for models who are not signed to a Danish mother agency, Danish models must have the charter's health check, and after the week each brand submits casting sheets listing every model's full name, mother agency and social media handle. Agencies without valid health checks get a warning at the first fashion week and exclusion from the next; brands without certificates can be excluded and listed on the charter's blacklist, which is empty today. More about the charter, the health check and the age rule is in the Denmark guide; the dates of other weeks are in the fashion calendar.
Brands, shops and magazines
The clients are concentrated in the city. GANNI is a Copenhagen fashion house led by creative director Ditte Reffstrup since 2009, with offices in Copenhagen, Paris, New York and Shanghai; the "GANNI Girl" was coined in 2015 when Helena Christensen and Kate Bosworth posted in matching coats. Cecilie Bahnsen, Stine Goya, ROTATE Birger Christensen, Saks Potts, Samsøe Samsøe, Baum und Pferdgarten and By Malene Birger are all charter signatories and show or sell in Copenhagen; Baum und Pferdgarten's designer Helle Hestehave and Samsøe Samsøe's Martin Mwila sit on the charter's steering committee. Pandora is headquartered in Copenhagen with about 39,000 employees and revenue of DKK 32.5 billion in 2025. The BESTSELLER group, founded in 1975 in Ringkøbing and owner of JACK & JONES, ONLY, VERO MODA and NAME IT, is a signatory too, as are the conglomerates DK Company and IC Group; their head offices are in Jutland, but their e-commerce and campaign work books Copenhagen models. Magasin du Nord has its flagship on Kongens Nytorv, Unique Models ran its 2018 scouting in Salling department stores, and Sonder Agency shows work for Illum.
The magazines that book editorials are mostly charter signatories as well: Eurowoman and ALT for damerne, published by Story House Egmont on Strødamvej in Østerbro, Costume (Bonnier Publications), ELLE Denmark, whose editor-in-chief Cecilie Ingdal sits on the fashion week's board, DANSK Magazine, Euroman, Cover, Femina and Vi Unge. The charter's list has separate sections for photographers and stylists, and the best-known Danish photographer with a modelling past is Helena Christensen, who was invited to Paris at 19 to work for Chanel and Vogue.
Who came out of Copenhagen
Freja Beha Erichsen was scouted on the street by Unique Models and walked her first shows for Miu Miu, Prada and Louis Vuitton in February 2005. Josephine Skriver signed with Unique at 15 and became a Victoria's Secret Angel. Mona Tougaard, from Aarhus, was scouted at 12, won Elite Model Look Denmark in 2017 at 15 and opened Prada and closed Chanel in her first season. Caroline Brasch Nielsen was scouted at 15 while queuing for pizza; Lex places her career with Elite Copenhagen. DR's lifestyle desk once headlined that most Danish models are discovered by chance, on the street, at a concert or in a café; Unique's Friday open casting and Elite Model Look are the two organised routes. TV 2 put the number of Danes working on catwalks at about 2,500 in 2014; there is no official statistic.
Minors in Copenhagen
Children under 13 may model only with a permit from Arbejdstilsynet, the Working Environment Authority, case by case, under chapter 9 of the order on young people's work, BEK nr 1713 af 18/12/2025; the permit moved from the police to Arbejdstilsynet on 1 January 2026, so pages that still speak of a police permit, including the "Polititilladelse" form on JS Total Booking's menu, are out of date. From 13, shoots and shows count as cultural activities and need no permit within the safety rules. On top of the law, the charter says models must be 16 to work, 15 with dispensation and an adult present, and under 15 only for children's and teenage clothing with an adult that the agency arranges. The Copenhagen agencies set their own floors: Unique 14, Scoop 14 for girls and 15 for boys, Selten 14, Elite a parent's approval and attendance under 18, Scoop a parent at the casting under 18. Le Management Kids (0 to 16), BASIC CPH's kids site, Star Kids (0 to 16) and 1·kid (0 to 14) take younger children. The hour limits by age and how to apply for the permit are in the Denmark guide.
Coming to Copenhagen from abroad
The safest route is through a mother agency at home, which sends your digitals and measurements to the Copenhagen agencies and weighs the terms with you: the commission, exclusivity, the payment term and the costs. You can also apply directly in the way each site describes; Le Management's form has a choice of country, and Two Management says it has no open call. As an EU citizen you need no visa and no work permit; a passport or identity card is enough, and for a stay of up to three months there is nothing to apply for. A short job gets a tax number instead of a CPR number, and a visiting self-employed model with no Danish employer owes no Danish tax on the fee. A non-EU model is exempt from a work permit only for up to three working days in 180 in connection with a significant international fashion show or fair. Tax, the EU residence document after three months, the CPR number, NemKonto and the charter's health check are explained in the Denmark guide.
Before you apply
- Decide what you are looking for. The fashion agencies print height ranges and age limits; BASIC CPH and Sonder Agency take people of every height and size for commercials, catalogues and film; Le Management Kids, Star Kids and 1·kid take children.
- Open the agency's profile in the catalogue and check the CVR number free of charge at datacvr.virk.dk. NORMAL or Aktiv means a live registration. Two Management prints a dissolved company's number, Selten and MA 11 have no Danish entry, Heartbreak works under its Norwegian company and Sonder under BASIC CPH's.
- Check the charter's signatory list, and remember that it carries no dates: Diva, September and CPH Wolves are listed and closed.
- Take plain digitals in daylight without make-up. Scoop, Unique, Gossip and Selten ask for exactly that; none of the 16 asks for professional photos.
- Nobody who contacts you first on Instagram is an agency until you have verified it on the agency's own site or phone. Elite publishes its number for that reason, Scoop and Le Management have both been impersonated, and a request for underwear pictures or a webcam casting is a sign of a modeling scam.
- Ask in writing what the commission is, what it is calculated on, when you are paid after the client pays, and how long the contract binds. Unique's one year is the only published term; three years is called usual.
- If a fee is asked, compare it with the catalogue. No Copenhagen agency in the catalogue prints one; JS Total Booking's DKK 98 is the only published amount in the area.
