KNOWN Model Management
Badhoevedorp is a village in the municipality of Haarlemmermeer in North Holland, right up against Amsterdam. One of the 100 Dutch agencies in our catalogue is here. The country has no licence for model agencies, so the catalogue lists every business that represents models, and the profiles say what we found.
KNOWN Model Management says it specialises in unique faces with striking appearances and personalities, manages all genders and aims to find "that one supermodel" and build a long-term international career. On its site the agency calls itself independent and names Ismael Santana Vasquez as founder and main agent. The menu has women, men, new faces, Curve Girls and Classic Men boards, and a runway archive going back to 2017. In the catalogue that corresponds to women's, men's, new faces, curve and senior boards.
The company directory Drimble lists Known Model Management (KVK 62714775) as registered on 23 February 2015. The agency prints the same number in the terms on its own site, together with the address Arendstraat 3 in Badhoevedorp.
An international career: what to read in the contract
An agency that promises an international career usually acts as a mother agency: it places the model with agencies in other countries and takes a share of the earnings from those markets. In the Netherlands no law or association says what that share or the main commission should be. A Dutch entertainment law firm advises reading four things in the contract: the commission percentage, the exclusivity, the duration and how the contract ends, and how earnings are split between the mother agency and other agencies.
A Lithuanian model needs little paperwork. An EU citizen needs neither a visa nor a work permit in the Netherlands; a passport or identity card is enough. If you stay less than 4 months, you get the BSN number needed for tax free of charge by registering as a non-resident (RNI) at one of the 19 municipalities that have such a desk.
Neighbours in Haarlemmermeer, and Amsterdam
- Amsterdam has 50 agencies, 19 of them with a new faces board, and hosts the fashion week in September.
- Lijnden has Euromodel, an agency founded in 1967 that also has a curve board.
- Hoofddorp has Elite Amsterdam, the office of an international network.
How to apply
- Prepare digitals: face from the front and in profile, full length, no make-up, in daylight.
- See on the agency's site which board you would fit. Curve Girls and Classic Men show that it looks beyond models with standard measurements.
- Ask for the contract to be sent in advance and read it at home, unhurried. The national rules are in the guide Modeling agencies in the Netherlands.
