Typies Casting
Ouderkerk aan de Amstel is a village in North Holland on the river Amstel, directly south of Amsterdam. One of the 100 Dutch agencies in our catalogue is here. The country has no licence for model or casting agencies, so the catalogue lists every business that represents models or keeps a file of them, and the profiles say what we found.
Typies Casting says on its site that since 2007 it has cast actors, semi-actors and extras for commercials, corporate films, online content, film and television. For advertising photography it casts and books models from its own file, and it also runs street-casting projects across the country. The agency is led by the casting director Arnan Samson. In the catalogue it has commercial and talent boards.
The office is at Dorpsstraat 26, and according to the general terms the company Typies Casting B.V. (KVK 34268668) is registered in Amsterdam, so your contract will name an Amsterdam company.
Free registration, but with your own photos
The registration page says registering is free, but that professional casting photos are required. The agency takes no fee for listing you, yet a cost arises all the same: you pay the photographer yourself. Here a casting file differs from a fashion agency, for which plain digitals are enough the first time. The police's advice says a reliable agency advances the cost of the first photo session and settles it later against earnings; here you arrange the photos yourself, so weigh that difference in advance.
- Ask what photos are needed: how many shots, in what format, and whether the ones you have will do.
- Choose the photographer yourself and compare prices. If the agency recommends a particular photographer, that is a suggestion and not a condition.
- Ask how much the agency keeps from a fee. No law or association sets the commission in the Netherlands.
- Find out how often people of your type get booked: in a large file, being registered does not yet mean work.
Casting for advertising and work with children
If you register a child under 13, every job will need an exemption from the Labour Authority. The Authority states plainly that it is requested by whoever has authority over the child during the work, that is, the employer, a parent or a producer, and not by whoever does the casting. So a casting agency will not obtain this document for you: ask the client.
Neighbours and Amsterdam
- Amsterdam has 50 agencies; 10 of them have a talent board.
- Amstelveen has Antimodels, a "real people" agency with free registration.
- Diemen has Kidz Management and 92 Model Management.
