Kids modeling agencies in the Netherlands
There are 100 modeling agencies in the Netherlands. Below: every agency with its boards and founding year, a comparison table, and what international models need to know. We do not vouch for agencies: each profile shows what we found about it, good and bad.
The Netherlands has no licence written for model agencies, no register of them and no working trade association: the permit for private job placement ended in 2003, and anyone can start an agency after registering a business with the Chamber of Commerce (KVK). So our catalogue lists every business that represents models, but it does not vouch for them: each profile shows what we found, good and bad, including fees charged to applicants with their prices, commission, courses, company details, press reports and history. The catalogue has 100 agencies in 36 places: 50 in Amsterdam, 5 each in Haarlem and The Hague, 4 in Rotterdam, 3 in Utrecht, 2 each in Diemen and Heerlen, and one each in 29 more cities and towns.

the Netherlands for international models
- As an EU citizen you need no residence permit, no work permit and no registration with the immigration service (IND) in the Netherlands: a valid passport or national ID card is enough. For the first three months there is no further requirement.
- For tax and for pay through payroll you need a citizen service number (BSN). If you stay less than 4 months, or live abroad, you get it free of charge by registering in person as a non-resident (RNI) at one of 19 municipalities. If you stay longer, you must register with the municipality within 5 days of arrival.
- A non-EU national needs a permit: for work of less than three months the employer obtains a work permit (TWV), and for longer a combined GVVA permit is requested. The exemption for artists who work up to 6 consecutive weeks within 13 weeks does not name models, so ask the agency or client to confirm in writing which permit you need.
- No law or association sets the commission in the Netherlands. The figure we found most often in agency terms is 20%: Not Your Mother Agency, ZAZA Casting and MULTA Casting take it from the model, while Mix Models, Euromodel, The Force Models and APL Models add it for the client. Have your commission, and the amount it is calculated on, written into your contract.
- The Waadi forbids asking a job seeker for anything in return for job placement, but the rule is written for employment and no official text says how it applies to self-employed models. Some agencies in the catalogue charge a registration or website fee of between €7.50 and €75: the amounts are on their profiles.
- Lithuania has a tax treaty with the Netherlands (applied since 2001), so the Dutch artists' tax scheme does not apply to people living in Lithuania; whether a model counts as an artist is not confirmed. If an agency pays you through payroll, 35.75% is withheld in 2026 on income up to €38,883. The general VAT rate is 21%. Talk to a tax adviser before your first job, and ask Sodra about an A1 certificate.

How this list is made
The list includes every agency that represents models. We check the facts on each agency's own website, in public company registers, on association member lists and in the press, and publish what we find: fees charged to applicants, schools, company status, press reports, history and memberships. We do not vouch for or recommend agencies. No agency pays to be listed and there are no rankings. Last checked: 2026-10-10.
01How many modeling agencies are there in the Netherlands?
This catalogue lists 100 agencies in the Netherlands, including Euromodel, Moederannecasting, Ulla Models and Jamm Models. It includes every agency that represents models; we do not vouch for them, and each profile shows the facts we found, good and bad.
02Do modeling agencies in the Netherlands need a licence?
No. The permit for private job placement ended on 1 September 2003 and nothing replaced it for model agencies: anyone can start an agency after registering a business with the Chamber of Commerce (KVK). A new admission system, the Wtta, enters into force on 1 January 2027 and is enforced from 1 January 2028, but it is meant for businesses that lend out workers who work under the client's direction, and no official text says it covers model agencies. A KVK number proves only that a business exists. Judge an agency by its model board, its contract and its company details. Our catalogue lists every business that represents models and does not vouch for them.
03Can a Dutch agency charge a registration fee ("inschrijfgeld")?
The Waadi forbids asking a job seeker for anything in return for job placement (article 3) and a supplied worker for being supplied (article 9). Both rules are written for employment, and no official text or judgment says how they apply to self-employed models. The police write that a reliable agency advances the cost of the first photo session and deducts it from later earnings. In practice some agencies do charge: Be-Pretty Models asks for a one-off €7.50, Hebbes Casting €14.99, ZAZA Casting €15, Bullet Models €19.95 for a profile shown on its website, Moederannecasting €30 or €50, ID Casting €75, and EGO'S Models takes €72.60 a year for photos on its website. We show facts like these on the agency's profile so that you can compare.
04What commission do Dutch model agencies take?
No law or association sets it: the commission is whatever the contract says. The figure we found most often in agency terms is 20%, but who pays it differs. Not Your Mother Agency and MULTA Casting take 20% from the model. ZAZA Casting keeps 20% of the model's fee and adds a further 20% for the client. Mix Models, Euromodel, The Force Models and APL Models add 20% for the client on top of the model's rate, and 92 Model Management also takes 10% as a mother agency on earnings worldwide. The online platform Modelwise keeps 30% of what the client pays. These are examples, not a market rule, so read the percentage, and the amount it is calculated on, in your own contract.
05How much does a model earn in the Netherlands?
We cannot give you figures for adult models: there are no official data on models' earnings, and we found no agency rate card and no credible survey of day rates. The children's agency La La Agency says most jobs pay between €175 and €350 for a block of up to 4 hours, and Mooi Echt! in The Hague writes that a client can book a model from €195. The minimum hourly wage is €14.99 from 1 July 2026 at age 21 and over, but it applies only to employees and not to a self-employed booking. The agency commission comes off a fee, and the money is often paid out only once the client has paid: Kidz Management gives 2 to 3 months.
06From what age can you model in the Netherlands?
Children under 13 may work only with an exemption from the Netherlands Labour Authority, and the limits are strict: under 7, no more than 2 hours on a school day and 6 days a year; from 7 to 12, no more than 4 hours on a school day and 24 days a year. At 13 to 15 no exemption is needed, but the child-labour regulation caps hours and days: no more than 12 hours and 3 days in a school week. At 16 and 17 you may work up to 9 hours a shift, with no night work. No law sets a minimum age for catwalk models; some agencies themselves take adults only.
07Is there an association of model agencies or a code of conduct in the Netherlands?
We found no working association, so the catalogue shows no memberships. One Haarlem agency mentions an association called BMCB on its website, but on 12 October 2026 that association's domain was for sale. The one code of conduct was the voluntary Model's Health Pledge: models, agencies, clients and media signed it in 2016 with the support of the Ministry of Health, and it stopped in 2025. Its reporting point, the closing report says, continues together with an independent foundation. We found no union of models and no collective agreement either.
08What papers does a Lithuanian model need to work in the Netherlands?
A passport or national ID card is enough: you need no residence permit, no work permit and no registration with the immigration service (IND). The number used for tax and payroll is the BSN. If you stay less than 4 months, or keep living in Lithuania, you get it free of charge by registering in person and by appointment as a non-resident (RNI) at one of 19 municipalities; EU citizens may choose any of them. If you stay longer than 4 months, you must register with the municipality within 5 days of arrival. Before you travel, ask the agency whether it will need a BSN.
09Does a non-EU model need a work permit in the Netherlands?
In principle yes. For work of less than three months the employer obtains a work permit (TWV) from UWV, and for longer a combined residence and work permit (GVVA) is requested through the IND. Artists need no permit if they work for no more than 6 consecutive weeks within 13 weeks, but models are not named in that rule and we could not confirm that they count as artists. So ask the Dutch agency or client to confirm in writing which permit is needed and who applies for it.
10What tax does a model pay in the Netherlands, and does the artists' scheme apply?
It depends on your status. If the agency pays through payroll, 35.75% is withheld in 2026 on income up to €38,883. A self-employed model sends an invoice, charges 21% VAT unless exempt under the small-business scheme, and declares the income personally. Whether the artists' scheme (artiestenregeling) applies to models is not confirmed: it is meant for people who perform before an audience, and the tax office's guide does not mention models. For people living in a treaty country such as Lithuania the scheme does not apply at all. Ask a tax adviser how your work is classed.
11Is a model in the Netherlands an employee or self-employed (zzp)?
There is no special rule for models. The tax office looks at the real working relationship, and a person who works through an intermediary without a business of their own can count as a fictitious employee: the agency then pays through payroll. Enforcement on false self-employment resumed in 2025; in 2026 there are still no default fines, and the soft phase ends on 1 January 2027. A legal presumption of employment is planned for people earning up to €38 an hour. Read in your contract which route applies to you.
12How do you check a Dutch model agency, and where can you complain?
Look on the website for a name, an address, an e-mail address, the eight-digit KVK number and a VAT number: the law requires them. Check the KVK number or the name free of charge at kvk.nl, and the VAT number in the EU's VIES system with the prefix NL. Be wary of anyone who asks for money to be listed, proposes a webcam test or gives only a mobile number. For threats and fraud go to the police (0900-8844) or Fraudehelpdesk (088 786 7372), for underpayment or child-labour breaches to the Netherlands Labour Authority, and for a contract or an unpaid fee to the free legal advice service Het Juridisch Loket.
13Where are most model agencies in the Netherlands, and when is Amsterdam Fashion Week?
In Amsterdam: our catalogue lists 50 of the 100 Dutch agencies there, and more than a dozen others work in neighbouring towns, including 5 in Haarlem and 2 in Diemen. The Hague has 5 agencies, Rotterdam 4, Utrecht 3 and Heerlen 2, and one agency each works in 29 more places from Groningen to Maastricht. Amsterdam Fashion Week takes place once a year, in September: the 2026 edition ran from 1 to 5 September at venues across the city, and dates for 2027 had not been announced on the day we checked.
